Tuesday gives us four meetings and thirteen picks, and the shape of the day is unusual. Most of the money is loaded into the evening. Wolverhampton has four selections and every one of them carries a double stake, so if the day turns on anything, it turns on the Tapeta.
Chepstow gets us going at 2:15 with Hope Rising, and there is no dressing up what the market thinks of that one. A price like 1.12 tells its own story. The interest at Chepstow comes later, with Law Of Design in the 3:50 and Arnaz in the 5:00, both at prices that give you something back. Evie Ross at 5:00 in the 4:25 is the one we are happy to take a swing at rather than lean on.
Lingfield is the thinking punter’s card today. Perfect Ruler in the 4:08 fits a profile that has served us well in this grade, and Marco Ghiani rides Lingfield better than his overall record suggests. Ninety two days off is the obvious query, and we are not pretending otherwise, but the mark he runs off looks workable. Later on, Von Krolock goes in the 6:22 off a mark of 56. He was beaten a head by Dark Sun at Leicester on 25 April and that rival has since gone on and won, which puts the run in a better light than the bare result. Due Date completes the Lingfield trio at 11.0, purely a speculative one.
Ireland and the evening
Roscommon is where we go looking for a bit more. Summer Island in the 7:15 has the draw doing the work for him. Stall 17 is exactly where you want to be over that trip round there, and the good ground is what his record has been asking for all season. Two wins from his last six say he is in the right form to take advantage. Enchanted Lady in the 8:15 at 13.0 is the outsider of the day, worth a small interest and nothing more.
Back at Wolverhampton, the four doubles run from 6:30 to 8:00. Spaceman, Gladiadora, Acclaimed Freedom and Velvet Whisper. Three of those are inside 5/1 and the last of them is a big price, so the sequence has a proper spread to it.
Yesterday gave us Poppy Foxy at 8.5 and So Sassy at 4.0 from five picks, with Green Titan placing. Two winners from five, and one of them at a healthy price, is the sort of day that keeps the ledger moving.
Nine of today’s thirteen are inside 4/1, which is a firmer day than most. The evening will tell us whether that confidence was earned.
