A racing system that shows its working.
The Form Signal is a set of rules that reads racing form and picks up to five horses a day. Most tipping is impossible to check: wins get shouted about and losses go quiet. So everything we do lands on one page, in order, whether it went well or not.
What happens each morning
Every flat and jumps race in the UK and Ireland is scored before racing starts. Up to five selections go out as the daily card, here and on @theformsignal on X, by 09:00. Results are logged the same day on the record page, win or lose.
The daily card
The handful we put our name to. It is what the record tracks, all of it, with nothing edited afterwards.
The X thread
Wider: every runner that qualified that morning, usually ten to fifteen. It is not the card, and the record does not claim to cover it.
How the picks are made
The system was built by mining results rather than opinions. It holds around 4,900 tested patterns drawn from every UK and Irish result since April 2025, roughly 17,700 races, and checks each morning's races against the patterns for that specific kind of race. Since October the daily card is chosen from horses our own form read ranks in the top three of their race.
A pattern is only used if it survives testing on data it was not found in. Plenty do not, and they are thrown out.
No tipster shouts, no market rumours, nobody else's selections, and no language model choosing a horse. The selection is rules from end to end. The short write-up under each pick is drafted by a language model from the system's own output and checked against our data before it posts.
How the picks are staked
Win under 7/1
1pt to 3pt. The 3pt stake is kept for our two strongest profiles when our form read has the horse first or second in its race.
Each way from 7/1
Always 1pt each way. There is no top price: a horse makes the card on form, whatever the market thinks of it.
Best odds guaranteed
Settled at the better of the advised price and the starting price, at the stake we advised on the day.
Double result
Since 28 August a horse first past the post and then demoted is settled as a winner. Earlier results were left as they were.

The rules we hold ourselves to
Published before the race runs. The X post is the time stamp.
Every result logged. Won or lost, nothing comes down afterwards.
The whole card, from launch. The wider X thread is not counted, and we say so.
Changes apply forward. Past results are never re-filtered to suit a new rule.
Non-runners come out. They are flagged and the stake leaves the record.
Mistakes get written up. The last one corrected a published number.
Who is behind it
One person: a long-time racing enthusiast with a background in data and systems analysis, building and testing this in the evenings. Not a syndicate, not a tipping room, and not a business with a marketing department. The card has been public since 21 May 2026.
