Wolverhampton Draw Bias

flat races since 17 Apr

No part of the draw wins more than its share of runners by enough to rule out chance, at any trip. Over 896 races, where a horse is drawn here has mattered less than it is often given credit for.

Stalls are split into low, middle and high thirds within each race. Each bar is that third's share of the winners and the tick is its share of the runners, so a bar past its tick is winning more than its share. We only call a bias when the gap is at least 15% of that share and two standard deviations clear of chance.

Wolverhampton Track Guide

Wolverhampton is a one-mile, left-handed oval with tight turns and a short straight of about two furlongs, closer in shape to an American track than to most British courses.

The surface has been Tapeta since the course reopened in August 2014, after Fibresand until 2004 and Polytrack until 2014. It has staged only flat racing on the all-weather since 2004.

It was the first floodlit racecourse in Britain, and much of its racing is in the evening.
