Saturday gives us seven meetings to sort through, and there is plenty packed into the evening. Chepstow alone accounts for six of our selections across its card, so that is where a lot of our thinking has gone today. Add in the Epsom feature, the Doncaster action and a busy Lingfield programme and you have a day that asks you to spread your attention rather than pile into one race.
Chepstow is the meeting we keep coming back to. Poetry Of Time heads the list there, the shortest price we are putting up on the whole day, and we are happy to lean on her in the 6:20. A little later Dapper Gee Gee makes plenty of appeal in the 6:53, the sort of one who looks fairly weighted against these. Then late on Cloudside Rock rounds off the card for us at 9:00, another we expect to be bang there when it matters.
Lingfield is the other meeting doing heavy lifting, and Pixie Diva is the one we want to talk about. She is improving fast and stands well clear of these rivals on current form. A length third at Thirsk off this same mark was full of merit, and Keenan boasts a fine Lingfield record. The turf duck ends today as far as we are concerned. Zoustar Dreams is the other short one we like there, in the 7:05.
If you fancy a swing at something bigger, the longshots are out in force. Musselburgh kicks the day off and we have spread our net wide there, with Fear And Fast in the opener and Approaching Dawn the real outsider of the bunch in the 5:15. Over at Epsom, Betsen is the big-priced each-way poke in the 3:15, with Starlight Time and Partisan Hero giving us three on that card to follow.
Doncaster is worth a look too. Squealer is the one we are most confident about there, going in at a sensible price in the 2:30, while Arctic Dawn carries our each-way money later on.
Yesterday was one of those frustrating ones. Five selections, no winner, but every single one of them placed. Amidst The Chaos, Legacy Link and Man Of La Mancha all hit the frame without quite getting their heads in front. Days like that pay the each-way bets and keep you ticking, even if they leave you wanting more.
Today gives us the chance to turn those near misses into the real thing. Plenty of options, a fair split of bankers and prices, and a Chepstow card we are itching to get going.
